Unconfirmed report that he just passed away. Can anybody verify this info?

Confirmed.

Lani was known for his passion for Steelhead, especially in British Columbia.

Back in the Day, Scientific Angler/3M corporation made a bunch of wonderful 16 mm films put on VHS cartridges.

John Fabian was the camera man for all these films.

We sold them, we rented them and we had a large TV at the shop and played all these videos, all day long, every day.

These videos did a lot for fly fishing at that time.

Lani Waller and Jim Teeny were the Steelhead guys in the Steelhead series and that really put those two great guys on the map.

We wore out Lani's DVD's at the old shop. I had the pleasure to work with him while at FarBank and he was truly a gentleman. RIP.

Lani was the Best of the Best, and when it came to fly fishing he was the absolute REAL DEAL. He and a group of his friends visited the Lodge that my wife and I managed in Alaska's Katmai National Park during the Summer of 1978. I also guided at the Lodge and Lani's group was the highlight of my Summer. While his group's members fished everything high tech on the River, Lani fished a short, light line, classic bamboo fly rod...the Guy could fish!

After that Summer it was always a great pleasure to run into Lani and catch up. Best, Bob
