Been a while, glad this site is still kicking!
So I bought an RV and at 52 I want to spend the next few years checking off some bucket list items. The biggest is a trip to Terrace . Who has done this ? I will probably book a day or 2 with a guide but I like to bank fish. I do have an Outcast pontoon boat which could open up some access to me. Salmon and even better steelhead, probably spend a good 3 weeks up there. It's a drive from here ( central coast) but I don't mind as I can stop and see friends in the PNW. Anyone ever do this? I realize it's a big trip and I'll research and plan as necessary. Just fishing around for suggestions. Fall is my target,Sept/ Oct. I'm intrigued by the Morice,Copper, and whatever rivers I can check out but I will want to keep it to just a few options so I can learn the area and it's big. Crowds aren't my thing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I have a year to plan this. Thanks! Robert

Good for you,

My wife and I are long-time old RVers, even when we were youngsters we went RVing with our folks.

September/October is prime time for nice weather and floating line fishing.

The Morice/Bulkley area would probably be good for you.

Terry Thomas, who now works at Fly Fishing Specialties in Sacramento on Hwy 80 can help you with the Terrace area.

Some on here might know what is going on in BC for licenses and laws for fishing those rivers as a non-resident.

Be sure that your RV is in good shape before you go. What RV did you get?

I am so jealous. I love Fall Steelhead.

Thanks Bill. I'm renovating a shuttle camper bus. I love fall steelhead and plan on spending a lot of time in this thing on the north rivers!
I'm aware of the many obstacles and special circumstances related to a trip of this magnitude. Good things seldom come easy!

I’m also curious to hear any stories from folks on here who have driven up to Terrace for a diy trip. Avidangler, if you go on speypages or Washington flyfishing forum there are some posts to get ideas about the trip. I just moved 25 miles south of the BC border for grad school and hoping to make day/weekend trips to southern BC rivers and lakes. Also very much want to do the drive up to Terrace but likely won’t be able to do it until next summer/fall. I want to be optimistic about SH, but there is definitely a sense of urgency to get up there sooner than later.

I have a friend, Chris Pasley, who lived near the BC border in Washington State for a long time and fished up a short way to the lakes for

trout. He said May/June was prime time for the famous shallow weedy lakes and after that, you had to go up elevation for July.

An article I wrote after fishing with Chris up in those famous lakes.

This is information I learned from going with Chris who is a top fly fisher

and retired fish hatchery manager, Alaskan guide, and Nor Cal guide.
