Had a 3 night trip last week.

Decided to hit Almanor as have not fished during smelt time.

2 1/2 days on the water via pontoon boat.

First half day landed 3, second day 4 and final day which was until moon landed 5 - the best a brown of around 23 inches.

Fishing was slow on parts but when it was on it was excellent and the brown topped it off.

Thanks for Lance Gray for pointing me to the right places and also Frank Spiteri who also helped me out and made the trip even more enjoyable. Lots of good people in our community that go out their way to help people out.

Cheers steve

Thanks for the excellent post and photos Steve.

I always recommend October for mid-elevation lake fishing for trout.

Eagle Lake, near Susanville, is best Oct, Nov and Dec.

Baum Lake fishes all winter.

October is usually good on Davis Lake.

Thanks Bill.

Have not fished Eagle but want to get up there. Those rainbows look mint.

Bill do you or do you know Hal Jansen?

Bought his book few years ago, incredible depth of knowledge in that body of work.

Lots of expert knowledge in this forum and community.
