Anyone out there with current info on Manzanita? NPS website says boatramp not accessible but hasn't been updated in weeks. Webcam has been out for years now. Fly Shop doesn't seem to have up-to-date info.
Thanks

Around the edges it has melted. Maybe 3 feet around on average. Still solid in 95% of the lake.
Campgrounds, cabins and store are all closed until after Memorial day weekend.

Makes trip planning a bit easier.
I been moving guide trips around. The gates are closed. They are trying to remove snow. It snowed up there this last weekend. 6 inches or so.
I got eyes on it always.

A little off topic but McCumber Reservoir, just a little down the road, is ice-free and fishing well for some.

McCumber it is. Always liked that little lake even without Manzanita's great view.
And the satellite.....Pretty cool. Thanks!

In the 1970s we fished McCumber, Manzanita, and smaller Grace and Nora stillwater fisheries from round float tubes.
There used to be limited rough camping at McCumber.
I heard that Manzanita has cabins now and some amenities.
Both lakes have callibaetis mayflies and damselflies.
Manzanita has the large "motorboat caddis" in the evening at times.
Later we evolved to small prams which are still very popular today.
Canoes, kayaks, SUPB and pontoon boats are good too.
May/June is usually a good time but it might be later this year.

Manzanita has cabins? I know McCumber does, been 20+ years since I last fished it.
I fished Manzanita once right at ice out at the start of a 3 day trip. My first cast, the first of the trip, resulted in a beautiful, if skinny 18” Rainbow. I thought ”I should just go home now - it’s all downhill from here”. It was the only grab I got the entire trip.

"Back in the day," there was little help fishing anything except "word of mouth."

Cabins def a mixed blessing.
Love the place and it should be enjoyed by “people” not just anglers
But they have tons of kayaks etc for rental and the place gets busy in summer. So probably good idea to fish it when less non anglers around.
Magical spot though.

Stopped by for look Monday 5/15 and was 2/3 ice free. Looked again this AM, 5/19, and ice gone but road to boat ramp not open. Free to launch carry-craft at entrance station. Looks good and the place should open up by next weekend. Check ahead.

The lake is ice free. The boat ramp is closed still. According to park staff they hope to have things done June 5th. They are hopeful. Lots of work to do up there.

The tent sites run through Recreation.gov and the NPS, are closed due to unsafe trees. Supposedly opening 06-09. The cabins are open now. WE aarre told by the store that all lake access is open. Tent site reservations that had been made for June 1- June 8 were cancelled. But repeat, the cabin sites stayed open.

All I saw was the cabins open and the store. The campground gate was closed. Make sense. Lots of damage from this great winter we had.
My reservations were also cancelled by recreation.gov.

There are some USFS roads just east and west of Manzanita on 44 where you can disperse camp for free.
