I got back out today. If you like socked-in, foggy, nothing but gray, bone chilling days this was a good one. When I was younger we got a lot more of them so when we get them now it makes me nostalgic for the past. I can remember not seeing the sun for three weeks straight. It probably was not that long but that is how I remember it. I like to soak up the fog when I can.

Fishing should be terrible right now but today it was not. I got 8 which is pretty good for me in the kayak casting for stripers. Hopefully they will keep biting enough to make it interesting. There is rain in the forecast for next week. Hopefully that will keep coming also.

John, is it warmer (less cold) with the fog that with sunshine?

Fog should be go for fly fishing because it makes the light level low.

The Valley does not get snow but it does get fog this time of year.

In the Fall and Winter we lose some fly fishers who go hunting.

Years ago it was a bigger effect when hunting was more prolific.

Fog is good for tiny BWOs / Blue Wing Olives/ Baetis may flies on streams and rivers.

I think it feels cold when it is foggy because of the humidity. The low light is definitely good for the stripers. Almost every big striper I remember catching was in a low light condition.
