Striper conditions are not good right now - 48 degree water, visibility about a foot and a half and the reports are that the stripers are nowhere to be found so I felt pretty lucky to get a good one this afternoon. He towed my kayak into the weeds and almost got in the sticks a couple of times but he tired a bit and I grabbed him by the lip. Quite a tussle but I got him. 11 pounds. I figured stripers were done for the year and it was going to be fly tying and dreams of winter steelhead until March but I guess there are a few good ones hiding out there. An early Xmas gift from the fishing gods for sure. Fun stuff.

Nice John......

A 10# Striper is a big deal today............

Years ago (1975) when I started a small fly shop and ran it pretty much by myself I gave lots of advice.

I would tell people that about every 6 times you go out you should get lucky and catch something.

I also told them to put the golf clubs and spinning tackle away and just fly fish.
