Took my new Outcast Clearwater to Lewiston Lake last week for my first visit there.

Had 2.5 days on the water, first half day to get me dialed in and then landed 20+ fish each day. Mostly planters albeit some had been in for a while and were in better condition. Nothing big.

Mostly small baetis and midge patterns on floating line and streamer on slow intermediate.

Nice fall scenery and almost the whole campground to myself.

Fun trip and enjoyed the Clearwater.

Love Lewiston, such a fun place, did you drift the upper section or fish the Stillwater?

Just like all the great trout lake fisheries in Nor Cal, Lewiston Lake has gone through it's cycles.

It would be on many older folks' top 10 list of Nor Cal trout lakes.

~50 years ago it had big Callibaetis hatches and big wild Rainbow trout.

I would stop by the Trinity Fly Shop in Lewiston and talk with Herb or Pat Burton about history and current Lewiston Lake.

Probably, like most mid-elevation trout lakes, May/June and October are the best months?

Right above is Trinity Lake that is believe holds the CA state record for Smallmouth Bass.

I fished mostly above and below Pine Cove.

I didn't have a lot of time to research launch spots for my pontoon.

Probably why I was getting into so many stocked fish.

Folks on boats / with engines seemed to be fishing the "rocks" area further north.
