Ran into an old friend at the Big Island!

So my son and I are snorkeling A-bay in Hawaii and I see these guys fly fishing over a reef bed!

I told my son..."I swear that's gotta be Don Memmer" and lo and behold it was him! Hooking up right in front of me!

Last time I fished with "Mems" was 2007. It was great seeing him still guiding and hooking fish after 15 years!

Your photos are dated 1-1-2022. Were you there recently or are your pictures simply dated wrong?
Any chance that fish was a raccoon butterfly? Never seen one taken on a fly.

Had a client out yesterday. He got this Pualu, impossible and missed a nice bone when he lined it. He got to see how fast they are running away.
