8'0" Orvis FullFlex Fiberglass Fly Rod

8'0" Orvis Full Flex Fiberglass Fly Rod, 2 piece, 3 3/4 oz. These rods were built ca. 1970 on yellow painted Phillipson blanks and are highly regarded. This one was in bad shape when I got it, so I revarnished walnut reel seat spacer, replaced the guides with new chrome snakes and a NOS carbide stripper using the correct Orvis brown thread, and gave the rod an overcoat of spar. As you can see in the photos, the yellow paint has chipped away in places but I detect no cracks in the blank. Originally rated for a GBF (WF8) line, which seriously overlines the rod. Most folks like 1-2 lines sizes below the rating on these rods. REC twill bag, no tube.

Around 1970 we carried Phillipson fiberglass fly rods at Sports Unlimited on Arden Way in Sacramento.

Very nice fly rods.......obviously Orvis had them made some for them.

For only $75 this would be a fun rod to own....

It is probably a 7 line rod and possibly a 6 weight by todays standards?

Put an old Pflueger or Hardy or Orvis fly reel on it and go fishing.
