I've got a 2 year old Pointer that I need to break this summer. That means I'll be having her point birds and just pop a blank at the flush. Does anyone have a pointing dog they want to work over the summer? The birds I flush over Ellie Mae will be available to be pointed by another dog and shot. These will be Chukar or Quail, depending on availability. If you've got a pointing dog pup hit me up.

Back in the day when I hunted and fished I never had a pointer.

I did get to go out Pheasant hunting with friends who had amazing dogs though.

In the 1960s Pheasants were so abundant on the family (Sopwith) farm north of Sacramento that we really did not need a dog.

Out are the farm we did have a wonderful female Labrador, Tammy, who would flush up and retrieve everything that we shot.

Today to go upland game bird hunting I would say having a good pointer would be mandatory.

In the 1970s I worked in some real good sporting goods stores with big hunting departments.

The week before the opening of Pheasant season we had to have extra help to sell hunting licenses and tags.

Howdy Ed, I've got a red setter pup, also Ellie, and a coop full of squeakers ready for training once they're flying. Only problem is I'm about 14 hours away. Hope you're well.

Dang that's a good looking Red. Light footed and fast, my favorite kind. So now you have a Llewllin and a Red. Gonna pick up a Gordon and a Laverack next? I ran Gordons for over 20 years, love them still but moved on to Pointers. That 14 hour drive for training sessions seems a bit steep though. Should the Red Gods ever favor it and we end up close together running the 2 Ellies would be awesome.

Oh yeah, here's my Ellie. My dogs are all clowns, wouldn't want it any other way.

Funny you should mention, I really like the Tallgrass Gordons here locally. Lean and big running. http://tallgrassgordonsetters.com/
Ellie looks like a nice dog, goofball in the house, business in the field! Be cool to get them together someday.
