Are the Sage SFL 580 s glass rods attracting much interest from collectors these days? I know the SFL 476 model has a following, but I havent seen much on the 580 in terms of how they fish and what they currently sell for.

That rod would be perfect for those who prefer to 'walk and wade' small to medium trout streams with dry flies.

Are those the rods Sage made back in the late ‘70’s? I think the first Sage I ever cast - ever saw, in fact - may have been that 8’ 5/6. Sweet rod, even for a beginning fly fisher, but way out of my teenage golf course grounds crew income range. Would love to try casting one of those again and see if I still feel the same way about them.

One recently sold (Oct 10) on Ebay without the rod tube but with the rod sock for $610. It was a factory rod in new condition (bright cork, no line scuff around the snakefoots) with original store price tag on the rod ($84) secured with a zip tie. Multiple bidders and 24 total bids.

Wow - guess I’m not the only one that remembers those as great rods…. Like finding that ‘67 GTO that sat in a barn since 1973. I suppose the financial guys would call that a 12.5 % annual ROI? I’m 58, and 40+ years later that rod is still a little over my budget.

My uncle, Tom Anderson, who worked for Blomberg Window Systems had the first Pontiac GTO in Sacramento in 1964.

Our own buddy, Jon Knapp of Davis has had several GTOs.
