A friend and I hit the Rogue for our first time last week. We set up a two day float with Jim Andras as our guide. Different parts of the River reminded me of the Feather, Trinity and Yuba. The fishing was very good and Jim is an excellent guide who knows the River well and is just a fun guy to spend a day with.

Two very different days of fishing, the fish held in different places each day. We lost a bunch of fish on day 1 and had only a couple of lost fish on Friday. Typical steelheading. We got fish as large as 8 lbs. Jim has a very unique fly he ties that was the ticket both days. We landed over a dozen fish per day between the two of us.

All in all, a great trip on a piece of water that was new to us.

~5 hours driving time on I-5 from Sacramento to the middle Rogue river.

It is one of the best Steelhead rivers near us.

October is the peak of the fall fishing in that area.
