People who fish or guide from 'skiffs / boats' every day do not need 4 piece fly rods.

Ferrules are just one more thing to losen up and cause problems.

Andy could probably "super glue" 2 piece rods together?

When I was up on the Miramichi river in Nova Scotia fishing for Atlantic salmon we stayed in an old fishing lodge.

In the dining room over a window was an old Fenwick 9' #9 fiberglass 2 piece fly rod.

Under it was a sign:

"At the end of my week I could not get this rod apart so I left it for anyone who needed a spare rod while they were here."

Many people brought fly rods into our shop that were stuck together.

With two people we got most all of them apart without breaking them.

About 15 to 20 years ago G.Loomis made some 9' 'one piece' fly rods for the skiff guys in the salt water.

I think they made a #8, 10 and 12 line?

More than once I was able to free ferrules by running hot tap water over them to expand the outer portion

Those are really light rods.....

I think he is looking for 9' rods for guiding out of his boat.
