Clint Eastwood sang a song called Gold Fever in Paint Your Wagon. I always get that song stuck in my head but as Bass Fever. Maybe you have heard the song. I feel like the fever is setting in and the only cure is big and green and hiding in the sticks somewhere down in the swamp.

I got out today and was able to find a some bass. One was pretty nice. They are mostly occupied with spawning right now and ignored me but a couple did grab. In a few weeks they should be done with the spawn, on the prowl for snacks and more interested in my offerings. Maybe I can even get a little topwater bite going. Good stuff.

Looks great! Do you mostly fish for bass down in the Delta?

The Delta yes but I am tired of the wind down there and looking to expand. I am thinking Clear Lake but I don’t want to run into a bunch of tournament dudes. It is hard to catch bass on the fly when you are fishing behind them. Those guys get them. They need to make April and May fly fishing only up there or maybe we can make half the lake flies only. Either one would work for me.

I should say the second and third photos are the same fish. I liked the pictures so much I had to post both.
