Looking for a good, used (good condition) or new old stock, 4wt WFF. I'm partial to the Rio perception, but I'd be happy with a GPX or similar line. Can't bring myself to shelling out 120 bucks for a new line... What's happened to the world? Thanks for the help.

I'm with you, I need to invest in a new WF4F this year as well, but pricing is getting wholly out of control on fly lines...

At least if well cared for they last a long time I guess...

What we need is a "TFO" of the line marketplace. A disrupter. Ha ha

I have seen some Airflo Exceed lines on sale for as low as $35. Not sure if there are any 4wts available.

I have a SA Amplitude MPX that has seen the water twice. It just doesn't work well on my light W4. These things retail for $129 - I'm thinking $85 shipped CONUS (or OBO) or trade for an Amplitude Infinity. No box, on spool, loop intact, factory labeling on line.

Looks like top fly lines are averaging about $100 now.

Many only have one 9' #5 line in 4 piece fly rod and one fly reel so getting a new high end fly line will not kill them.

Others who have dozens of outfits and fish all over the spectrum do get affected by these prices.

Most all fly line companies have starter or beginner fly lines that are under $50.

These are fine for most anglers on a budget.

There are tons of companies that sell fly lines but only maybe 4 who make them.

Rio, SA, Airflo and Cortland make most all the best fly lines you will buy in America.

Companies like Orvis, Cabelas, Bass Pro, LL Bean, Gander Mountain have the 4 major companies make their fly lines.

If you can afford it, I would buy the best of everything made......why not?

The high end US made fly rods are better than the imported fly rods but some will argue this point.

If you can not they have fantastic "imported" products that are very good now.

$100 for a line is absurd.
I look to buy older season, higher end lines. Rio, airflo etc.

Agree 100%! Really don’t understand how they justify it. Fly fishing has gotten very popular over the years so they decided to take advantage of it, rake you over the coals. Their cost on making rods to and what they sell them for is mind bending.

I realized on day one that I could never enjoy this sport that the fullest if I bought all the latest greatest at full retail. I buy used, on sale, top of the line from 3-5 years ago, etc. On the plus side, at least there’s a lot of great gear out there these days that isn’t top dollar
