By comparison we're well off. We don't have the Ganges in our back yard but that shouldn't give anyone the idea that we don't have polluted waters in California. Try Kettleman City or other small communities in the southern San Joaquin Valley that can't drink water from the tap or bathe in it due to mercury, selenium, E-Coli bacteria and chemical run-off from big-ag. Steelhead Creek and the lower American River are polluted with elevated levels of E-Coli bacteria. So, we're all experiencing polluted water due to having too many people.
