Pyramid Curiosity - Boats?

I have not done much still water fishing for trout but I have read a lot about Pyramid for quite a few years. Always been an intriguing idea to fish from a ladder! But just not intriguing enough to get me there. (I do have a niece's wedding in Reno in mid April so....who knows)

What I seem to have missed is posts and articles about fishing that lake from boats. Why the deep wading when one can use a boat to reach the fish?

Are there prohibitive restrictions?

Just curious is all.

You’ll see boats on the lake but not many this time of the year. Right now it costs $50 to fish from a boat with one person on board. I think when you weigh the cost of admission with a boat and the possibility to catch fish equally, boat or shore, most prefer beach fishing. Remember these fish hug the shoreline this time of the year.

Also, boats must stay 250+ ft from any shore anglers making it harder to locate the fish this time of year. BobK

Back 40 years ago most everyone, spin and fly anglers, only waded with old fashioned gear.

They said boats were not a good idea due the danger of the extreme weather changes on Pyramid lake.

That is why no one float tubed either.....

I've fished it quite a bit from a boat in the past with downriggers and conventional gear. It can be fun, using electronics to locate fish and structure.

You have to be super careful out there- we used the rule of thumb that is you saw white caps anywhere on the water, even on the other side, get out. Winds come up super quick and you don't wanna be out there when it does.
