Hi Everyone. I’m looking for a 10 or 12 ft Valco Pram. I’m located in San Diego but willing to drive north as far as San Luis Obispo. Thanks!

The popular but discontinued Valcon prams were around $1,000 new.

They were 0.040" thick aluminum and riveted together.

They came in 8, 10, 12 and 14 foot with all the same dimensions other wise.

They were 55 inches wide at the gunel and 44 inches at the bottom.

Some were beat to death on the rocks and leaked a lot. Some were treated well or hardly used.

Many had the one man 8 foot which as all was very stable.

The 10 footer was good for two small folks or one big person.

The 12 foot is the prefered size for the iconic Fall River in Nor Cal.

I think that they guided with the 14 or even 12 foot in Nor Cal.

There are not too many prams made today and if they are they are expensive.

For flat water the one like the Valco were completely flat bottom which made them very stable.

Today if you see a good pram I would jump on it as they are hard to find.

That’s some great info. It will be my first boat and I think it would be extremely versatile for myself and my young son.

There's been a 10" or 12" Valco pram off and on the Craigslist in Monterey for the last couple months. It's not there now, but you can check it every so often to see if it is reposted.

I’ll keep an eye out. I have a lead on one out in Blythe but a lot of sellers are not very motivated to respond to potential buyers!
