I like the 14' x 48" at the bottom, 70" beam, heavy duty Jon boats that are 0.100" thick all welded aluminum.

Probably put a new Yamaha 25hp fuel injected 4 stroke outboard on it.

7.5 to 8 foot oars with a bow mounted 12v 50# auto pilot electric motor.

Galvanized trailer with at least 13" tires and a spare tire.

With a 7" or larger GPS/fish finder.

Nice wide platform. If your usual waters are not typically rough, the wider bottom would be a super nice comfortable platform and not worrying about a misstep, tripping, etc. Never hurts to have more stability especially the older we get. Pure stillwater trout platform for those with many consistent stillwater options to fish each year. California..... not so much, but that's not Phil's problem. ;)

Now when I go fishing anywhere I look at the wind speed first because I am fly fishing and need everything going for me.

If you have to cross San Franciso Bay to get home then that is different.


I love the 14' x 48" (at rear bottom) 0.100" aluminum all-welded Joh boats for a medium size boat for two anglers.
