The FL fish & wildlife spent 3.5 million $ and 10 years on this special bass lake and planted a million Florida strain LMB in it.

Headwaters Lake near Fellsmere, FL will be all over the Bass News soon.......30 minutes from my home.......10# fish are fairly common.

I am very envious that you're that close to Fellsmere. Hope to see lots of reports and pics.

Here is a video early morning conventional top water action.

I hope it is not too crowded to go there......?

This is the hottest large mouth bass lake in America right now......and perfect for fly fishing.

The "pie" is huge so you should not be concerned about crowds. Your new 'home' lake will have 2 or 3 times more Bass in it vs.
what is left of Striped Bass in California alone. Florida cherishes its sportsfishing..... Enjoy!

You should be excited. Fishing is supposed to make us all excited...... Fishing is supposed to bring out the little kid in us.......... which is why we all got into it decades ago. The old saying is "10% who fish catch 90%" of the fish, but the "pie" in CA was large and allowed the "90%" to still have fun and believe that with time and practice, they too could become successful. Our CA fisheries are so poor now that the "90%" isn't going to invest in the activity. It just doesn't pencil out.

Florida boost about Fellsmore and how it was developed over 10 years...... In CA, we get Davis Lake and how it has been a slow and poor recovery over the past 13 YEARS and counting.

Apologies for the rant..... just drop your CA fishing concerns at the border like everyone else I know that has left CA to fish and live elsewhere in retirement and go have a heck of a Winter and Spring fishing your you know what off for you and the rest of us! Cheers.
