Lower Yuba river has been good with small hoppers near the banks according to Mark Merrill at Kiene's Travel Department.

Madison river out of Ennis, Montana, has been good with hoppers according to Nor Cal guide Bryce Tedford.

The Truckee river can be good with hoppers now too. Windy afternoons can be good in some places.

The Missouri river near Craig and Cascade, MT has good hopper fishing this time of year......windy days are good.

Photo from this week? I saw the temps got a little chilly in Driggs the past couple of nights so I was concerned it may have put the GH down for the winter.

Keeping my fingers crossed it continues for a couple of more weeks, headed out sometime this weekend...

I was there the first week of September, Monday the 31st fished Henrys Fork in Island Park in freezing rain. The next three days on the Southfork was cool in the mornings, but shorts and short sleeve shirts by 11am. The picture was on the 3rd and the hopper bite was great. We fished Byington to Lorenzo that day.

Thanks. We got out here Tuesday but have been busy setting up the house. We fished a South Fork tributary for 4 hours on Thursday afternoon. The fish were more keyed on mayflies than hoppers but we caught a bunch. Hope to get out on the Teton tomorrow before we have to come back to Sac for 4 weeks.

Glad to hear you got to spend any time on or near the Southfork, it continues to be one of my favorite places that I have ever been.

You guys will be glad to hear there’s still a few hoppers around Eastern Idaho. We’ve had a few mornings down to the high 20’s in the last few days but they persist down as low as Lorenzo and I saw one at my place in Idaho Falls. But not much longer I fear. My signal that it’s time to turn the water off in the house and head for Texas.
