Smartphone App for smoke/air quality for California.

Was chatting with John Quigley last night about Stripers in the Berkeley area when he said he was going to check out the air

quality/smoke situation. I asked him how he did this and he relayed that he uses a Smartphone App "Local Haze", so I tried it.

It is live time from sensors all over California. Tell me what you use and how you like this free App.

Hey Bill:

just took a quick look at the App and it seems to be Iphone only

least ways I did not see an Android version

I just use the same web page I use for my weather reports:

it has a Air Quality Index rating.

which has gotten worse the last two days.

the wind has shifted back to coming from the south just in time for the week-end

if you look at the 10-day forecast there is a section that shows the wind forecast

Davis - 20 which is great.....must be the air off the Bay/Delta?

SacState - 169 - unhealthy......stay inside

Yuba Cit - 69 - moderate.......not too bad

Red Bluff - 15 - good - go fishing?

Mt Shasta - 10 - wow, that's great

considering it was 455 yesterday here in the neighborhood, 169 sounds great :rolleyes:

really sad situation up and down the west coast. N. Umpqua drainage is also burning now.

first big fire of the year - Valley fire east of San Diego.
Guess we should have been raking those forest leaves.

Right now it is pretty bad all over........



Watt Ave bridge area is around 200

Davis is over 200

Lower Yuba river at Smartsville is 194

Redding is 194

Mt Shasta is 187

Rogue river near Medford is 502.............yikes.

Happy Camp is 452.........crazy bad

We left Sacramento for Driggs on Tuesday. By the time the sun came up Weds, it was about 170 in Driggs and 70 in Sacramento :rolleyes:

Now much better in both places. We got big thunderstorms in Driggs on Saturday night which cleared the air nicely for Sunday. Unfortunately we had to come back here yesterday.

Our air quality index in Davis, CA is good in the evenings, nights and mornings because of the marine air coming in off the Bays.

This morning we were 20, this afternoon we were 120 but right now we are 5 !

Fall is coming.............yahoo.
