Boy, I REALLY REALLY needed to get my rod bent today.......................:p:p

Up at 6:00 and on the road by 8:30.
No pit stop in Minden this morning, took care of gas and window washing yesterday !!! ;);)

On the way up 88, Hope Valley had a few cars here and there...........
The river is at "barely a trickle" right now........not good.
On the way home tonight there were a couple of people fishing at the 89 bridge........:(:(

Onward...............
As I made the climb up to Carson Pass I got a couple quick glances at Red Lake........:eek:
Well, Red Lake was pea-soup green and the water appears to be down a few feet.
Pretty much expected since it is the end of August.

I arrived at the "Beautiful high Sierra lake tucked against a mountain....." around 10'ish.
Low and behold, the restrooms have been cleaned, all of the garbage on the ground has been cleaned up, and there was a "Campground Host", and the Iron Ranger was operational !!!!!
Quite the contrast from my last trip up there...............
And a note to any whom might visit soon..........................the Day Use fee is $ 8.00 now.:mad:

So I suited up and was on the water around 10:30.
It was a nice sunny day with just a noticeable amount of haze and light winds.

I fished the 'cator with midges today wading off the bank.
My tool of choice today was my 9' 3wt. single-hander that I added a bottom handle to for two-handed roll casting.

I landed a dozen or so fish today and missed about that many as well.
The fish were 6"- 8" and all rainbows.
I was a little disappointed that I didn't land any brookies though.
A tough pill to swallow today was the fact that the outflow creek has stopped running.
I guess all of the fish in the creek have now become raccoon or badger chow.:mad:

I packed it in around 6:00 and made it back home just before sunset.

Man.................I REALLY needed to fish today.....................:cool:

For the ride home, a couple of Gatorades and a medium bag of beef jerky............life's good !!!!:cool:

Dang Brookies.......................................... ......

Wonderful memories indeed.

Got my fingers crossed for you getting into some brookies.:cool:

Bob - your reports are the best. Thanks. I may have to do a last picnic someday. I did not know that was a thing but am glad I know now. FYI - I am back from Wyoming. Big mountains and small fish.

A last Hoorah isn't necessarily a picnic John.

My dogs, when conditions permit, are given some birds to find and point. Sometimes it's just with them on a leash, sometimes they can find it on their own. It depends on their medical condition. I always get pics, and all of them mean the world to me.
It's a case of giving them one last taste of what they've loved, the absolute least I could do for such a good friend.

You'll know what to do when the time comes. 'Til then, just keep taking that dog on your adventures.

God's greatest gift to Mankind is the Dog !

I have know some very special dogs in my day.

Imagine the primitive man, hunter gatherers, out in the wild with their dogs sleeping under the stars around the camp fire.

Met a man this morning with a beautiful six week old pup.Turns out to be a Dingo who’s mother had been accidentally killed by a vehicle. The Dingo is an indigenous Australian wild dog and not exactly a house pet.Nonetheless they make a good animal to have on a farm as they need property.A very independent animal and definitely not a lap dog.Our version of a Wolf I imagine. A man’s dog if ever there was one.

Dingos are survivors. This one came to check me out in Hervey Bay one day while looking for goldies. Dave's guidance was: "Don't turn your back on 'im, mate."
