Okie dokie artichokee.....................................

First off..........................no Red Lake for me last week.
The wife and grandson wanted to fish somewhere a little closer to home. :(
We fished a little pond that was crowded with bobber grenades going off everywhere around us.............wasn't a real good day. :(

Once again today, I just had to feed my cutthroat addiction.:cool:

Left the house @ 9:00, made the obligatory "pit stop" in Minden for gas/windshield washing, then pulled into the parking lot at Red right around 10:00.

For those interested....................Hope Valley had a butt-load of cars parked at the 89 bridge.
Must have just got planted there ??

This morning at Red was quite comfortable with just a gentle, if any breeze.
I decided to forego my waders and wet wade off the dam to about shin deep.
The water was cool, but not frigid and my feet never got cold.
And a big also.......................the water clarity was excellent...........the best I've seen at Red in a long time.

So, first cast just after 10:00 and reeled it up at 12:30.
In the 2 1/2 hours I fished I went: 4 landed, 4 LDR's, and missed 6 strikes.........hummmmm........not too bad. :p:p

At 12:30 I hopped in the car and traveled just over Carson Pass to the "beautiful high Sierra lake tucked against a mountain...". ;);)

The first thing I noticed was the "bear proof trash receptacles" were full, overflowing, and trash was scattered all about.
The "Iron Ranger" was sealed with plastic and some kind of tape.
All of the information signs were removed and covered with black plastic and tape.
Before "suiting up" I thought it'd be a good thing to empty my bladder................................ughhhhhh.:eek:
Let's just say the restroom was the most vial, disgusting, gross, sickening structure I've EVER been in.:eek:
Next time I'll just find a tree or a bush......................

So, I wadered-up and started fishing right around 1:00.
I immediately started catching small brookies and small rainbows.
It was literally a fish or strike every couple of minutes............kept me on my toes.
I was even lucky enough to catch a larger brookie that went about 12" which made my day !!!!!!
Love seeing their colors. !!!!!

The fishing at the "beautiful high Sierra lake tucked against a mountain..." started dying off around 4:00 and the "bite" completely shut down by 5:00.
I stuck it out till 6:00 then decided to call it a day.
The numbers here were huge, but the fish were small. :(:(

I had a blast fishing today and caught a bunch of fish too. :D:D

For the 47 mile ride home tonight.................2 Gatorades and a small pack of Nutri Grain fruit squares for kids....................that I pilfered from the Grandson's stash..................:o:o

Dang Cutthroats......................................

Is most of your fishing now wading in lakes for trout?

Hummmmmmm......................................... .

I never really thought about that.............................:confus ed:

Practically all of the small ponds that I fish around here don't allow floating devices.
There's one that I like to fish that allows floating devices though.
A couple of years ago, while fishing said pond in my float tube, I was "targeted" by an ass-jack shore fisherman that was chucking a 1/2 oz. Kastmaster at me.:mad:
So, I don't tube there anymore.

It so happens that I "stumbled" into a honey hole at Red on my first trip this year.
If I knew that I had to be in a tube in the middle of the lake to catch fish, of course I'd be out there. ;);)

As far as the " beautiful high Sierra lake tucked against a mountain", last year I found that the fishing while wading the shore was just as productive as kicking around in a tube.

If I were to visit Manzanita or Mc Cumber or even Martis, there'd be NO doubt that I'd be in some kind of floating device.

I guess that's just how it's panned out for me thus far.:cool:
