They have turned it into a wild trout fisheries and I hear good things about it.

The water quality is very good and cold because it comes from the depth of Lake Berryessa.

With the higher summer flows for agriculture you can edge wade the stream.

The "flat water" is really nice for floating in a V-boat, pontoon, small pram, canoe, kayak or SUP.

Many years ago there was a good Callibaetis emergence mid-day on Lake Solano.

On a calm day we could see the trout feeding after 12:00 noon to 2:00pm?

Steve Ohrwall of the Davis fly club developed a #12 olive bodied woolly worm with a short brown hackle for Solano.

Wow.....such good info......Thanks RFG!

Over 50 years ago many fly fishers from the Bay area and Sacramento used round float tubes on Lake Solano for trout.

Back then they planted it a lot but there was a good population of smart wild trout.

We use the Tucker Duck and Rubber Company canvas float tube stretched over a 7:00 x 20" truck tube.

Most worn Seal-Dri seamless pure latex stocking foot waders with swim fins.

Many used a fiberglass fly rod with a simple reel and weight forward floating line.

We put a short butt section on, then a Berkeley Finalist knotless tapered mono leader with 2 feet of Gladding Gladel 6x tippet.

The flies that worked were the Red Quill, Adams, Blue Dun in size 16.

I will not give up what works for me on Putah because it helps me keep away from the crowds. But, June is a top month for me to break off pigs on 5-6x haha
