I am listing this classic wooden drift boat for sale for my old friend Bruce Porter:

_______________________________

The boat is a 17 x 52 Tatman design. It's 15' 10" on the center line, so it does not require CF #s.

It was professionally built in 2000 by John McCleary & Sons - Professional boat builders in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

It has always been garaged. Fished primarily in the Fall on the Klamath river.

It is in unused condition since a complete inside/outside restoration.

The interior of this boat is dry! No leaks.

The boat seats three plus the rower.

It has raised floors, front and back.

The hull was stripped bare inside and out.

The bottom has three coats of West Systems 2-part epoxy.

The floor has two coats of West Systems 2 part epoxy.

Then it has three coats of marine spar varnish inside and out.

It has a new 3/8" UHMW synthetic sheet bottom which was professionally installed by Gary Minnis at Keaton Boats ($1,200.00).

It comes with Cobra oar locks with UHMW oar lock sleeves.

UHMW anchor bang plate on transom.

Sawyer MX-G oars.

Anchor system.

Cover.

Trailer with spare.

Trailer has new winch and jack.

All three tires in great shape.

All trailer lights are in good working order.

Comes with spare tail light bulb.

Trailer accepts a 2" ball.

All that is needed is a 30/35 pound pyramid anchor and a couple of PFDs and you're fishing.

The only reason I'm selling it is I have two drift boats and I can only row one!

Selling price =$3,5000. OBO I'm practically giving it away.

If you replicated this package today it would cost over $10,000.00.

Email me at brucetporter17@aol.com or call 916-257-7441.

In Sacramento.

Thanks Bill.

Cheers,
BP

If you are interested in a beautiful wooden drift boat I would go look at Bruce's.

He is inspired to wheel-n-deal on the price now?

If I knew how to row well enough to be buying a wooden boat I would be all over this.

In fact I’m half tempted to just buy it to sit in and drink beer and dream of being able to row it.

I am sure Bruce would teach you how to row that drift boat.

I am sure Bruce would teach you how to row that drift boat.

He would probably throw in an Arai helmet for your safety too:p

Bruce is a stand-up guy. This is an absolute steal. If I had space, I'd buy it. Honestly don't worry about being able to row, Bruce will show you anything you need to know. He has thousands of hours on tough water for experience, super nice guy and a pleasure to spend a day with. If you knew Bruce, you'd know he wouldn't just let you buy the boat if you had never owned one, he'd make sure you felt comfortable with all aspects of rowing and navigating the river correctly. I speak from experience, Bruce is my rowing "Sensei" who I met when I reached out for help after I bought my first DB, since then he's become a good friend. Aside from all that.. the boat is almost free if you consider the value of the trailer and oars alone!

Now that Bruce's boat has sold................................

Some years ago, when we lived in Magalia I purchased a Tatman 17 x 52 kit too.
I started my build in September and finished it the following July.
I spent ALL OF MY FREE TIME working on it that fall, winter, and spring that year.

I designed my trailer and called in a couple of favors for the welding.

A couple of years later we decided to move down to Chico and I had nowhere to store my boat.
It really broke my heart to sell it.

I sold it for what I had in materials only............and took a beating on my labor. :(:(

The pictures below are "borrowed" from the fellow that bought my boat that later listed and sold it.
All of my pictures are 35mm and haven't been converted to digital.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by "borrowing" these pictures............if I am then Bill or Admin feel free to delete them.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for "woodies".

I loved that boat and often wonder where it is now.......................:(:(:(

There is something magical about a wooden drift boat or dory. Lots them in Oregon.

Before I mentioned my friend Leonard Lehr had a wood jet boat which was extremely exotic with many different types of wood.

When we stopped at the gas station it would gather a crowd.

PS:Bob, we don't worry about borrowing pictures.

This is a wooden jet boat like the lodges use on the Dean River in British Columbia.
