Both rods are sold

Walton Powell Hexagraph fly rods. These rods were co-designed by Walton and Bruce and Walker in the UK - they are six foam core strips with graphite backing glued up in a hexagonal cross section like a cane rod. Very versatile and durable rods and a really cool innovative piece of fly fishing history. The early blanks were unpainted and are a very dark green/almost black graphite. These rods were used for all of the on the river casting scenes in the film “A River Runs Through It” and so were painted and built to resemble cane rods. Here I have on offer one of each...

8’6” 4-7wt (yes that’s right - classic Walt - probably really a 5-6wt rod) 2/1 Walton Powell Hexagraph. Dark graphite finish rod. Rod is as new
- still has the plastic wrap on the cork with masking tape with hand written notes in Walt’s own hand. Anodized Powell uplock seat with Walnut spacer. Red wraps, ceramic strip guide, Powell drawn NS ferrules. Original tube and sock. The notes on the tape Walt made date the blank to 1995. However, Walt did not build it out until near the end of his life - so built in 2000 or 2001. The plastic bag it came in has Walt’s business card from his last few years alive when he lived in Fall River Mills, CA. He has written on the card “Proto Hex 8 1/2 4-7wt”. This rod IS history.
