Fly fishing for Shad on the Lower Yuba River is the best.

In Northern California the lower Yuba river, below Daguerre Dam, is some of the best Shad fishing we have.

The water is usually very clear and it is a small river, like a trout stream.

Most go with guides in jet boats or in their own jet boats.

Access on that river below the dam is not common.

Hopefully we get some more water Bill. Running a little skinny right now. Shad tend not to run up to the damn on low water years. It is a dynamic river to fish for Shad. Probably down low will have fish, but its not quit the same as up above in my opinion.
