WTB Winston BIIIX or Scott G Series

Hi all,

I'm looking for a Winston BIIIX, BIIX or Scott G Series 5wt. or possibly a 4wt in either model. Let me know what you have.

What’s your budget for a BIIIx 9’ 5wt new in tube with card?
I would consider letting it go for what I paid on close out.

As a qualification to my following comments, I have never cast a BIIIX. However, I have owned 3 9’ BIIXs in 4, 5, and 6 weight. The 4 weight was the star of the 3 rods, and is the only BIIX that I still own and I fish it a great deal throughout the year. The 5 weight was far and away the loser. Just as background, here in Northern Colorado I fish a lot, and I was lucky enough to fish the Poudre River 28 of the 31 days in March. I use Double Taper 3 and 4 weight rods the majority of the time during March, April, and May until runoff starts. The BIIX 4 weight also handles a WF-5-F beautifully. Good Luck, Bob

Thanks for the insight. I heard the Biix 5wt was a dud with the 6wt and 4wt being the shining stars. I've got a Biiix 6wt and love it. From what i've read the Biiix line doesnt have the inconsistency issues the Biix does...

The 8’6” biix 5 wt was actually pretty good! The 9 footer was the worst.
