I picked up a Sage SFL 6wt rod. I believe its rod #1XXX something they ever made. SFL is their fiberglass rod they made the first two years in business. Been looking for one for awhile so I'm glade to finally have one. I'm posting this to see if anyone recommends a reel for it. I'm not familiar with any Medialist models but that seems like the one to match it up since they were the reel to have in that time period. Any models recommended for this rod would be greatly helpful.

Fenwick rod company was owned by Don Green.

Fenwick rods, like Scienfific Angler fly lines, was sold in discount stores.

Don sold Fenwick to start a new high end fly rod company.

The first year it was named Winslow but there was a conflict with the name.

So they changed the name to Sage rod company.

I think the first rods were fiberglass, maybe S Glass?

I would put a Pflueger Medalist 1495 on it or a Hardy Princess with a WF6F.

I started fly fishing with a 6 weight fenwick glass rod and pflueger 1494 1/2 (wider version of the 1494) reel. Both worked well and I still have them. I caught a lot of fish with that outfit and I still use the reel for euro nymphing.
