The October Caddis hatch is going on the Upper Sac and in the last few days the fish have started eating the dry's.

Right now I am only been seeing the dry fly bite in the late afternoon (4 to dark) but soon that will change and the fish will eat them all day long.

yeehaw.

Was out last night and managed to go 7 for 14 on a Norm Woods Special.

Here is a link to a (poorly focused) short video I shot a few years ago that shows the Caddis dancing over the river

(not sure if this is gonna work)

overall last week-end the river was fishing kinda slow. Not much action during the day.
but I am starting to see many bugs out now (BWO, Small Caddis, October Caddis)
and the bite should get progressively better in the days ahead.

Wow Steve.......thanks.

So nice to have you on our Forum.

We had a cabin in Dunsmuir for about 10 years and hit that October Caddis emergence a few times.

Seems like late October is an average time for the Fall to start on the Upper Sac?

The Norm Woods Special is actually a Golden Stone dry made famous on the Deschutes River in Oregon.

Thanks Bill,
Ya, mid-Oct to end of Nov is prime-time for the fall fishing on the Upper Sac.
River can fish good all winter but weather and flows can get to be an issue once the winter rains really get going.

Lots of overlap between Golden Stone patterns and Oct. Caddis patterns.
