In October the weather is usually perfect for fly fishing.

The weather is not too hot and not too cold, yet.

Winds are usually low too.

Trout in streams and lakes at mid-elevation are usually very good in October.

Steelheading in our longer rivers is usually very good too. Klamath, Rogue, Umpqua, Deschutes, Grande Ronde rivers.

Salmon are starting into the tide water of shorter coastal rivers in October if they are open. Eel, Smith, Chetco rivers.

Stripers are coming into the Bay and Delta from the ocean in October.

Bass & panfish are usually moving into the shallows to feed now too.
