Oct/Nov/Dec and June are Redfish months in the Gulf.

Reds really are like that. You have to stick it right in their face and they'll grab just about anything they can see. When they stop like that they're actually laying on the bottom. The movement of the fly triggers them to think it may be a crab or a shrimp and they pounce on it.

Once you come tight they take off like a bonefish sideways because of the shallow depth. They're very strong with those big shoulders. Greg Moon ,whom we've fished with numerous times, likes to call them "pumpkins" when the water is warm and you see them shallow.

Wonderful Tony,

I guess you go in November?

Greg Moon said he is booked up solid in Oct/Nov but also likes June for Redfish.

I just read the Nov/Dec was for the big ones like you have there.

Bill,

When the water gets colder the fish seem to come in closer looking for warmth. Jim May and I have taken some good fish in October as well.
