Some years ago in the Fall Joe Shirshac was on the North Umpqua river looking for Steelhead when it rained up there.

He said it triggered the October Caddis emergence and the fish went wild.

They were catching big Steelhead on big large flies.

Top Nor Cal guide Fred Gordon will have customers call and cancel their trip because it looks like it will rain.

Fred says he never takes a deposit so it is not problem if they choose to stay home.

He says the fishing is usually really good when it rains so he just goes out with some local buddies and has great fishing.

I tell Marilyn's relatives in Platte, South Dakota that we don't usually get any rain for about 6 months every year.

They do dry land farming back there with very little irrigation so they depend on rain all summer.

They got 6 inches of rain last week in one day which is not good for harvesting.
