I am going to the FL Keys for a few days in January and want to cross off sailfish on my species list. I recognize that most of the fishing that time of year is with live baits and that is fine...not at all expecting to get one on the fly.

Has anyone had good experiences down there with a guide they would recommend? Guides are a dime a dozen in the Keys and it's always hard to know who is good and who is just OK.

I called Florida Key Outfitters on Islamorada and they said as soon as it cools off in November all the way through March is the time for sailfish in the Keys.

Thanks Bill, have you worked with them before and specifically any of their guides you'd recommend?

It is an old famous shop and should have good guides to recommend.

Thank you, if this trip actually comes together I will give them a call to see if they can help or point me in the right direction.
