We call the Fall season "the Second Season" which is September, October and November.

Everything with "fins and lips" is feeding up for winter?

The larger trout streams cool off and fish go on the bite.

The trout in lakes come into the shallows to feed as it cools off in the Fall.

Bass and pan-fish seem to be more active too.

Fall is definitely Striper time in the Delta.

Steelhead and salmon come into the rivers to spawn too.

The inshore and bays in salt water are very good too with mild weather.

*The first Saturday in November is the opener of Dungeness crab season.

** Wild berries, apples and grapes are ripe along the rivers and streams in the Fall.

October is my favorite month for Fall fishing......not too hot and not too cold.......yet.

Get something on the calendar before it is too cold.

Let me know if you need any help planning a Fall trip.........

Yes Bill,

Fall is on it's way.

The days have become noticeably shorter.

Our outdoor thermometer displayed 49 degrees this morning @ 6:00 a.m.
We haven't seen the morning 40's for quite sometime.

Plumbs have finally finished falling from the tree.......what a mess.......

There are a few golden leaves on the patio today though the trees haven't turned yet.

Our patio furniture is no longer shaded all day.

Heenan Lake opened this weekend.:cool::cool:

Bob....I guess you are around 5,000 feet?

Fall comes sooner at higher elevations or further North.

I think October is pretty good at most trout lakes.

What month is the start at Pyramid?

Pretty good guess on the altitude here Bill. :D:D
Yep, Carson City is @ 4700 feet plus or minus.

If nothing has changed, the opener at Pyramid is October 1st.
Me, personally, I'll give it a week or two after the opener to start trying Pyramid again.:cool::cool:

That is correct, the Instaguides are already counting down the days

The first few weeks of the season can be good if you have a watercraft or know where the bigger drop offs are. Usually the fish are still pretty deep at that time.

I am intending to try some new things this fall...skating for steelhead, big streamers for browns (and maybe mackinaw if I am lucky), etc.
