There are hundreds of Nor Cal fly anglers who have fished the Delta but how many have actually fished in the Bay(s)?

Capt. Gregg Holland would be good guide to go out and experiences the SF Bay.

I think this is the timing for Stripers to be coming into the Bay from the Beaches?

Gregg guides conventional angling, fly fishing and bird hunting.

I am sure Gregg gets lots of guys who take our significant others, the kids, fathers, ect?

Lot's of guys did back in the day late 60's - 90's. For a while we lived within a short bike ride of the Old Bayshore which led to Third Ave. We fished from the San Mateo Bridge all the way back to Brisbane, then on to Candlestick. There was a contingent of Striper guys ( phone tree anglers ) who'd share the movements of the fish daily. A fellow by the name of Jim Mancuso of Millbrae held a yearly Striper party for the bay & beach gang ( about 50 of us ). In the latter 90's I held classes and did some club events about the Striper and Halibut opportunities available out the back doors of San Mateo & San Francisco county residents. Many were interested, few put in the time it took to get up to speed on the tides, seasons and fish.

It would have been great had a guy like Gregg offered south bay and middle ground trips back then, that would've greatly shortened the learning curve and likely generated longer term interest. With a stronger and consistent peninsula Striper & Halibut following, maybe they'd still have a local fly shop in S.M county. Salt chuck Stripers are more contagious than the measles, those that are interested in this type of near urban angling really should contact Gregg.

Here are a couple of ancient shots taken in the late 90's.

Geez, those bring back good old memories. We used to drive down from Napa and launch at Oyster Point. From there we could spread out toward Candlestick , the tubes under Hwy.101, all the way down to the airport and fish around those pilings at the approach to the landing strip.

Lots of good times down there.

I did not go down there back then but read and heard about it from people like Hal Janssen, Larry Green and Mike Fong.
