Please make the following release changes to the American River

3,500 cfs is great all around flow for our river.

In this heat I know many veteran anglers go out super early for a few hours and then fish late in the day too.

It is the end of the Shad run and start of the Summer resident Striper season - Aug/Sept.


Bass and panfish are usually good all summer in smaller water as long as it does not weed over.

AM and PM with low light is good but if you are stealthy they can be caught mid-day.


Time to head up to 5,000 feet or more for Trout.


Many will go to the cool Pacific coast of CA, OR and WA.

Time for off shore salmon, surf, clamming and some crabbing.
