Bass Pond Tubing

I tried some float tubing for bass today. As the tules move in the shoreline fishing gets tougher so I thought a tubing trip would be worth a try. It was nice to sit in the water for a few hours on a hot afternoon. Also nice to not get my backcast caught in the grass every few minutes. The trophies were not hiding at the bottom of the pond, unfortunately, but there were still plenty of scrappers looking for a meal.

That looks a lot like a pond at Ft Hunter Liggett in Monterey County where I use to live and fish.
Now that I semi retired from the Baja business I gotta get back into the warm water game. I'm going to

Funny, a few years ago I went to the base cantonment to get a fishing photo ID after submitting an application, background check, etc. Still haven't fished any of them yet. It gets really hot down there in the summer. I usually head down there during the cooler months to hike in the Ventana Wilderness.

And, great pics John. Sounds like a nice spot for a packraft. Many of the waters I frequent also benefit from some flotation, because of tules, brush and trees.

I can understand. It's pretty hard to keep a pond healthy. It requires a lot of work and effort. But if you are an excellent householder, you will manage to find time and resources to keep your pond in good conditions. Especially now when there are many tools like aerators (https://trimthatweed.com/best-pond-aerator/) on the market which help you keep our pond healthy and save your time. But no matter what, I really appreciate the work of the people taking care of a pond. Because I have my own pond in my backyard, and I know from my experience how hard it is.
