A friend found a butt section (and only the butt section) of a new looking high end fly rod on the shore of McCloud Reservoir
Kinda strange to find only the butt section, maybe fell out of a boat before it was put together and the cork kept it afloat enough to wash up on shore?
or maybe someone lost track of it some other way.
Fell off a car on the road and rolled down the hill next to the lake?
Anyways, I am mentioning it here in case anyone hear of someone who lost a rod section on the lake or on the road to Ash Camp.
Long shot I know but hey worth a try.
Not going to identify the rod here but it sells new for over $700.00
we are gonna try to contact the manufacture and see if it was registered.
--edit--
mystery half solved - owner found. Turns out the whole rod and reel were lost a long way from where the butt section was found.
No clue what happened to the reel and the rest of the rod.
