April/May/June is the best time to fly fish for warm water species in CA.

We have tons of small ponds, small lakes and larger reservoirs with bass and panfish.

From the feedback I have received lately this is what we should be doing.


For smaller water I would look at Cameron park pond, Mather pond and Rancho Seco lake.


For larger low elevation reservoirs I would try Lake Berryessa and Folsom Lake.

Another piece of advice is many of us will get their tackle in their vehicle and go out after work during the week as the last few hours can

be very good for top water fly fishing.


Sunset now is around 8:00pm now so if you get off work at 5:00pm there is lots of time for evening top water bass fishing.
