If anyone out there has any older Pflueger Medalist fly reels and need parts to repair/replace, take a look at: www.onepfoot.com

Dan Hill is the proprietor and machines parts for repair/placement/upgrade of Pflueger fly reels. I've been ordering drag plates/hold down bearings for my Pflueger fly reels (models 1495 1/2, 1498) and am impressed with the service, so far. I haven't received the products, yet, but if they're anywhere near what has been described/photographed, I'm going to be very happy. You can view his products on Instagram @danhillerie. Take a look.

I think the original owners of Onepfoot are gone now and Dan took it over in the past 5 to 10 years?

I am so happy that they are able to keep it running.

Years ago I would buy those bronze drag disc from Herman Voss in Pompano Beach, Florida.

We would buy nickle silver counter balances from Sage and Hardy to put on the old Medalists.

We also carried the little frame screws in SAE and later Metric so we had them when people came in for a new fly line on their

vintage Medalist reels.

Here is my article on the Pflueger Medalist fly reels:

Darian & Billy -

I have ordered and installed parts from Dan, based on Billy’s referral. The One Pfoot parts are impeccable, and Dan is so very easy to work with.

Best, Bob

Does the counter balance really have a effect? If so what will they do? Been using these reels since the 60's

We used the counter balances on larger Medalists for the salt water and steelhead fishing.

Hardy might still have nickel silver screw on counter balances for sale?

Hal Janssen use to epoxy on half of a hollow lead weight on his little Orvis CFO III reel for a counter balance.

I just talked with old friend Bill Archuleta @ his Archuleta Reel Works in Grants Pass, Oregon.

I was talking about this thread about parts for old Pflueger Medalist fly reels.

He buys parts from Dan @ One Pfoot and does send people to Dan for parts and repairs too.

I asked Bill about the nickel silver screw on counter balances like the ones we bought from Hardy.

He said Hardy does not make them anymore but he does make them one at a time for customers fly reels.

He said they have to mail him their spool or spools.

Bill does machining to refurbish old fly reels.

He is most noted for his fine work on old Hardy fly reels.

Years ago the famous Fenwick Fly Fishing Schools and later the Mel Krieger Fly Fishing Schools used Fenwick #6 weight fly rods,

1495 Pflueger Medalist fly reels and WF7F Scientific Angler/3M Aircel Supreme fly lines for teaching.

I worked for master fly caster Bob Giannoni on the Mel Krieger Schools which was very enjoyable.

Mel Krieger found out I sold the bronze reversible drag discs from Herman Voss for Medlaist fly reels.

He also found out I sold the Hardy nickel silver screw on counter balances.

In the ensuing years many of Mel's old friends would call me up and order those drag discs and counter balances for their old

Medalist fly reels.

So today you can get the Pflueger parts from Dan Hill @ One-Pfoot.

**Fenwick, Orvis, Sage, FFF and Mel Krieger schools all used about the same basic instruction that was originally developed by

Fenwick Company. I am sure the Fenwick's famous fly caster Jimmy Green had something to do with this program.
