[PRICE REDUCED] This rare classic has been lightly fished and is in great condition. It excels as a dry fly, light nymphing rod for small- to medium-sized streams. Built by Press Powell in Chico CA in the late 1980s, the rods in the West Branch series were built on the same pre-IM6 moderate-action blanks made by Gary Loomis to Powell's taper specifications for his Signature Series. The West Branch rods use those same blanks finished in natural graphite gray (coated) rather than Signature Series dark brown and with less expensive wraps and other cosmetics than the premium version. The 1988 Powell catalog describes the West Branch series as "designed for the budget conscious angler who still expects the utmost in quality from a graphite fly rod." The 8ft 4-5 weight model up for sale is in super clean condition. The blank and dark green wraps are unmarked. The reel seat is black anodized uplocking with a dark wood insert and shows only slight wear, on the knurled ring (see photos). Serial number is FTD007296. The rod comes with its original cloth liner bag and an after-market aluminum tube. (Factory tubes were available at extra cost for the West Branch series.) $125 including USPS CONUS shipping.
