Heard PG&E was gonna crank up the flows on the Pit for all of Sept and Oct. Working on getting more info.
Right now Pit 3 has been raised to 700 CFS.
Heard it was gonna effect 4 and 5 also.

just found this:

Well that pretty much kills the Pit through mid December. It fished well for me last winter with almost zero pressure. Everybody else is out chasing steel.

Bummer. Fall on the Pit is one of my favorite times all year.

See you in March Pit River.

For many years we always went Sept/Oct when the flows were lower.

The Isonychia mayfly would emerge mid September.

Zero need to wait until March to fish the pit. Once the flows drop back to normal in mid December it will be back to "fish on" like normal.

No, I get what you're saying Mickey...I just don't get there often in December...chasin steel typically.
But agreed, when flows are stable it's always fish on. :)

Hi,

I am planning to go and check Pit 4 sometime this week (Friday?). Maybe somebody wants to join? I am in good shape but still don't like going there by myself. Water flows at Pit 4 seem normal - just above 400 cfs.

Let me know,
