We were planning to head up to Kennedy Meadows next week but the Donnell Fire (https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/6092/) is causing us to look for alternate locations. Can anyone suggest some place we can camp and fish for trout at a similar elevation within about four hours of the East Bay?

"Bill, Tell the guy to go to the East Carson River this weekend.

They just planted 1,900 lbs of fish over 4 lbs each last Thursday."

The NF Stan is high, as they are releasing water to run AC in the valley... was there last weekend.
E Carson is doable with drive time.

If the concern is smokey air, the East Carson isn't going to be any better than the original destination. Yesterday was the worst day since the fires started.

I was supposed to be staying at Kennedy Meadows this week for a horse pack fishing trip with my daughter. Hopefully the pack station survives this fire. Dardanelle is gone.

I’m in the same boat looking for somewhere to camp with the family without all the smoke. Original plan was the Bridgeport area but seems the smoke is affecting that area too. I was thinking maybe around Quincy or up in that area as a possibility but I’ve never been up there. I would appreciate any recommendations.
