I headed up with my son and his girlfriend for a quick overnight to Granite Lake. A short hike out of Upper Blue Lake in Alpine County.
Really nice scenery and a great getaway...but no trout that I could detect. Lots of small (2") baitfish at the lake edges, but didn't see a single trout cruising, rising, etc. Fished it blind for a while, but hard to stay committed when there are no signs of anything happening. Plenty of bug life, especially at dusk.
I've been to a lot of Sierra Lakes, and this one looked like it should be good. There are some past internet reports of trout as well.
Anyone else been here?
