My neighbor, his wife and kids left for a two week trip from Davis heading North along the Pacific coast.

Their final destination is Tofino on the northeast tip of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.

He texted me some pictures of the wild coast up there.

I have wanted to go to Tofino for several years. Looks like the Mendocino of Vancouver island. You can kayak some fjords and they have some huge trees the First Nation people fought to save. For now though I think I will just go to Oregon. No fly fishing but hopefully some big lings, rockfish and crab. After carefully releasing wild 12” trout it is nice to throw something big in a sack and eat it.

Did your friend do any ocean fishing? It is supposed to be good there.

Say hey John,
Tofino is a cool town. Clayquat Sound is gorgeous. The rockfishing and ling are excellent on fly gear up there. When the salmon are around that's also fun action. Knowing how you enjoy canoe/kayak adventures I would highly recommend it for you.
Cheers, Ken
