Locally the early AM fishing can be good for many species.
It is the end of the Shad run in the Valley rivers. early and late in the day is best....May/June/July
We have resident Stripers in many Valley rivers too......April/May and JUly/August/September
Large Mouth Bass fishing is good in ponds and sloughs early and late. The Delta is huge as far as miles of shoreline go.
Smallmouth Bass are good all summer in rivers like the Sacramento, Feather, Bear, American above Folsom Lake, Russian,
Consumnes, Stanislaus, etc.
Trout streams and lakes are good in the higher elevations....July / August / Septmber / October
Steelhead and salmon have started to enter some of the longer rivers like the Rogue and North Umpqua.
Surf and inshore fishing on the Pacific coast can be good all summer from Southern Cal to Alaska...July, August, Sepember
Time to go to Idaho / Montana / etc for some real wild trout fishing.......July, August, September
