Many who live in the hot Sacramento / San Joaquin Valley like to head to the cool Pacific coast or go to the higher elevations
(5,000'+) in the summer, July, August, September, to get out of the heat with temperatures over 100 degrees.
On our California coast we have crabbing, clamming, surf fishing and inshore skiff fishing.
Some more protected areas like Tomales Bay are nice for kayaking too.
In the higher elevations of our Sierras we have streams and lakes full of nice trout.
There are lots of cabins and camp grounds up there too.
