Anyone have eyes or a thermometer on the NFYR yet this year?

Seems like July is a big month.

I would think it might be good now?

North Yuba: fishing good to great. The best fishing is above Downiville up to the confluence of Salmon Creek. Dry dropper systems always work best. Yellow Stimulators, Royal Wulff’s, Yellow Humpy’s, Parachute Adam’s, Yuba River Pinkies, Stream Bank Hopper, Cousin It, and Ant RP’s have been the hot dry flies. Try dropping off Tom’s UV2 Mangy Prince, Red Copper John, UV2 Hot prince, or a Psycho Prince to improve your luck.

I was up there last Friday and got a late start at 09:30. Fished half way between Goodyears Bar and Downieville.
Water was not too cold and gin clear. But still wore waders.
Saw some mayfly and a couple caddis hatch around 10ish then it stopped.
Got a bunch of little fish biggest being around nine inches rusty/brown hares ear sx 16 ish depending on hook manufacturer. Nothing on stonefly. Saw a few husks. Epic scenery and a nice little waterfall.
Chicken soup for the soul.

tight lines~!

No thermometer reading from last week but I was having a great time above Downieville in the afternoon. Did not see another soul, but I was fishing on a Monday. No great hatches but plenty of action just below Loganville. Fish were coming about 50/50 on the dropper and the surface.

I don't know if I've ever seen a proper hatch on the NFYR with the exception of crane flies and ants. Nonetheless the fish are very surface oriented (opportunistic). Sounds like it's go time...now to just find the time...

A few Green Drakes left, and tons of caddis this year. My last two trips were off the hook, we lost count of strikes and rainbows to hand. Fresh report here; https://jonbaiocchiflyfishingnews.blogspot.com/2018/06/north-fork-yuba-river-fly-fishing.html
